The bereaved families of NHS and care staff who have died in the coronavirus crisis will receive special life assurance payments to compensate for their loss.
The Scottish government tonight signalled that it would match or improve on the £60,000 payments announced by UK Health Secretary Matt Hancock.The scheme unveiled at the daily Downing Street press conference will apply to NHS staff under Hancock’s control in England.But a senior Holyrood government source said Scotland will have its own scheme the details of which are being worked out by health unions, including the BMA.Negotiations with the Scottish government are due to conclude in the next week and the BMA said the long overdue announcement from the UK health Secretary may not go
