Sheffield United make decision on contract talks with duo amid coronavirus suspension

Sheffield United have put all contract talks on hold during the coronavirus pandemic. United were in discussions with John Lundstram and John Egan and they want them to follow Enda Stevens and John Fleck in agreeing new long-term deals.

The Blades have shelved those negotiations because now is not the time to be discussing hefty pay rises when some players at other clubs are accepting wage deferrals.

United could add tens of thousands to their weekly wage bill when some Premier League clubs are considering asking their players to take pay cuts or deferrals.

United are relaxed about Lundstram and Egan’s situations, even though the former’s contract is due to expire in June. Boss Chris Wilder has already said the club will activate an option
