SIPTU has called for financial support and compensation for all health workers contracting the Covid-19 virus, including those not directly employed by the State.
The union has also called on the Minister for Health Simon Harris to deliver full disclosure of which healthcare settings have seen cases of Covid-19, in order to identify "hotspots" of infection.
So far, over 7,600 healthcare workers have contracted the virus, but not all are directly employed public servants, with the sick leave and other benefits of state employees.
