PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Police Department is investigating two shootings in Kensington that happened less than one mile apart from each other on Thursday night. According to authorities, officers with the 24th District responded to the 3100 block of G Street around 10:25 p.m.Responding officers found a 15-year-old girl shot once in each thigh, officials say. She was transported to Temple Hospital by police, where she was placed in critical but stable condition. MORE LOCAL HEADLINES Minutes later, officers from the same district responded to the 800 block of E Allegheny Avenue, which is less than one mile away form the shooting scene on G Street. Police say a 29-year-old man was shot in the right calf and transported to Temple Hospital, where he was placed in stable condition. Authorities say no weapons were found and no arrests were made in either shooting. Officials have not said if the shootings are connected. This is a developing story.

MAURICE RIVER, N.J. - A search for a man for attempting to abduct a young boy from a local Wawa has come to a close, according to New Jersey State Police. Authorities say the unidentified man tried to abduct a 7-year-old boy from the bathroom of the Wawa on Highway 47 in Maurice River on Sunday. According to police, the suspect offered the boy candy to leave with him. PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Police Department is investigating a shooting on a Kensington street, where police say a teenage shooting victim was found. According to authorities, just after 10 p.m. on Thursday, police were dispatched to the 800 block of E Allegheny Avenue for a report of gunshots. Officials say responding officers found a 15-year-old girl lying on G Street with a gunshot wound to both thighs. She was transported to Temple University Hospital, where she is in critical condition, but expected to survive, police say. Chief Inspector Scott Small says about 15 minutes later, police heard gunshots as they were investigating the scene. Officers ran in the direction and found a 25-year-old man firing shots, police say. MORE LOCAL HEADLINES According to Small, officers were able to get him to lay down and hand over his weapon. Police say he was also shot in both legs and taken to Temple University Hospital, where he is in stable condition. Officials say investigators believe he was the one who was firing shots on the 800 block of E Allegheny, where the teenage girl was struck. The man was also taken into custody, police say. According to investigators, 14 spent shell casings were found at the scene. Police say cars on E Allegheny Avenue were also struck by gunfire. This is a developing story.

A screenshot from the dash-cam footage released by the Marshalltown Police Department DES MOINES, Iowa - Iowa police released footage Wednesday which shows a police vehicle hitting a 4-year-old boy. According to a Facebook post for the Marshalltown Police Department, Officer David Danielson was patrolling a neighborhood roughly 53 miles north of Des Moines on May 20, when he collided with a child who was attempting to cross the street. In the dash-cam footage, Danielson can be seen driving past a white van which appeared to be an ice cream truck with a sign that says "stop for children." The child can then be seen entering the street in front of the van where he was struck by Danielson's vehicle. Police say the child was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for injuries to his right foot and lower leg. Warning: The footage below may be triggering or disturbing for some. "The police vehicle was being driven by Officer David Danielson. PHILADELPHIA - The new leader of SEPTA's police force is ready to tackle the tall task of improving safety and restoring confidence in the nation's sixth-largest public transportation system.Chief Chuck Lawson, who spent 30 years as a transit officer, said reducing gun violence on SEPTA property is "undoubtedly" the biggest challenge he's facing. "My biggest challenge undoubtedly right now is gun violence we’re seeing on the system that we’ve never experienced in previous years," Chief Lawson said.This week alone, a 19-year-old man was shot on the 15th and Market street platform.
