Boris Johnson has released some guidelines on what 'stay alert' means as he faces criticism for his new slogan. The prime minister will be announcing his 'road map' for easing lockdown in an address to the nation tonight.
The government has decided to ditch the initial 'stay home' message for a new slogan: "Stay alert, control the virus and save lives".
Mr Johnson is now telling the public to “stay at home as much as possible”, keep two metres apart when going out and “limit contact” with other people.
But the first ministers of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have said they will not be changing their message, opting to stick with the stay at home guidance, while Labour's shadow health secretary said the new slogan risks ambiguity.
