A Brit tourist stranded on holiday in Asia will have to pay £1,000 to escape "complete lockdown" and get home. Wind turbine engineer Shaun Lisle, 29, was travelling in the Philippines with girlfriend Nicola Vince when their trip of a lifetime was cut short by the coronavirus pandemic.
The couple were trapped in their hotel under strict lockdown conditions – and found themselves stuck in a foreign country when their £400 flights were cancelled.
Shaun told ChronicleLive: "We've been stuck here for about 16 days, we've had a lot of to-and-fro from the embassy but a lot of their emails didn't really have any information. "Over the last 10 days French citizens stuck here got on flights for 300€, so we were expecting something like that.
