Supermarket vouchers, winter clothes and money for bills handed out by the Government

Councils across Britain are offering everything from coats to Christmas hampers to those in need this Christmas - as well as money for bills.

The support measures are part of the Government's Covid Winter Grant Scheme, that has seen £170million made available to local authorities to help those in need.

The rules say at least 80% of the money must go on food, energy and water bills to those in need locally, with 20% available for other costs.

Eating and heating are the top priorities for the DWP-backed scheme, but that covers a  range of possible offers.
