DALLAS - A North Texas mail carrier is dead after passing out while on his route during the excessive heat.The family of Eugene Gates Jr. says he's the postal worker who died in the Lakewood area on Tuesday. The heat index reached nearly 115 degrees.Gates was a longtime letter carrier who worked for the United States Postal Service for nearly 40 years. Tuesday, the 66-year-old left his Lancaster home early in the morning for work at the Lakewood Postal Station in Dallas. Gates’ wife tells FOX 4 that just after 4 p.m.

police lights (FOX 9)PHILADELPHIA - Authorities say a man has barricaded himself inside a South Philadelphia home after allegedly shooting two people. Police say two people, a 29-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman, drove to the Philadelphia Police Department's first district and told officer they were shot. Police drove the victims to Penn Presbyterian Hospital where they were each placed in stable condition, according to police. Investigators later learn that the man and woman were shot on the 2300 block of Bambrey Street.

WEST PHILADELPHIA - A shooting on a West Philadelphia street injures two men, one critically.The shooting happened on the 400 block of North Wanamaker Street about 7:15 Wednesday evening, according to authorities.A 23-year-old and a 20-year-old man were both injured when the gunfire took place outside on the street near some homes, according to authorities.Police took the 23-year-old man to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center. He is critical after he was shot in the abdomen.The 20-year-old was also taken by police to Presbyterian with two gunshot wounds to the arm.

WASHINGTON - The mother of a young pregnant model gunned down in Washington, D.C. in broad daylight says her daughter wished to flee the crime-ridden city before ultimately becoming a victim of violence.The manhunt continues for suspects involved in the deadly shooting of 22-year-old Samya Gill last week. Gill was eight months pregnant and gave birth before succumbing to her injuries."Because of the violence, because of things that we see on social media about people being just gunned down in a city, she wanted to move to another state," Gill's mother Celia told "Fox & Friends First" Tuesday.The Fort Washington resident was hit with a barrage of bullets while sitting in a vehicle with a male companion.

PARIS - A strong explosion hit a building in Paris' Left Bank on Wednesday, leaving at least 16 injured and igniting a fire that sent smoke soaring over city monuments and prompted the evacuation of surrounding buildings, police said. FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. - A Florida man desperate to hide drugs chose to swallow cocaine he had in his possession during a traffic stop Tuesday night, according to deputies. Flagler County deputies said Leslie Brock swallowed the drugs as deputies were trying to pull him over for a traffic infraction. When deputies approached the driver's side of the vehicle, deputies spotted a torn open baggie on his lap with small white flakes consistent with cocaine on his shorts. The Flagler Sheriff's Office shared body camera video of the arrest, which showed Brock refusing to step out of the car multiple times when asked. "Step out of the car," a deputy is heard saying. "What I did, though," Brock replied. Deputies ultimately removed Brock from the car and placed him in handcuffs.At the scene, they tested the flakes found in his car which were presumptive positive for cocaine, officials said.Leslie Brock is asked multiple times to step out the vehicle by Flagler County deputies.

CAMDEN, N.J. - Camden County will soon have over half a dozen overdose emergency stations stocked with Narcan at county parks. The stations will be filled with boxes of Naloxone nasal spray, an overdose reverse drug. There have been over 100 overdose deaths in Camden County this year."The epidemic is still out there, drugs are getting more dangerous and we need to respond as a government," Camden County Commissioners Director Louis Capelli Jr said. Narcan has been administered over 500 times in the first four months of 2023, according to Camden County officials. The Narcan stations cost $6,000 each, and are being paid for by the county's share of an opioid manufactures class action settlement.

PHILADELPHIA - Investigators with the Philadelphia Police Department are working to learn more about a crash in the city that left multiple people injured on Sunday night. Authorities say two vehicles were involved in the crash, which took place around 11 p.m. at the intersection of N Broad Street and W Erie Avenue. Officials say a 2010 Ford was going westbound on Erie Avenue when the driver drove through a red light and struck a 2005 Ford that was traveling southbound on Broad Street. The 2010 Ford then hit two pedestrians and knocked out a traffic light before coming to rest on the 1400 block of Erie Avenue.   FOX 29's cameras captured moments after the crash, where two cars could be seen damaged on the roadway. According to authorities, a 29-year-old man was driving the 2010 Ford.

Grand Canyon Skywalk, a 4,000-feet-high (1,200 metres) glass walkway that has become a popular tourist attraction.The incident occurred on June 5 around 9 a.m. local time when a technical rope rescue team responded to the Skywalk, according to a statement from the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue.With a helicopter assisting the recovery, two rope specialists determined the man had died and recovered his body.
