Temple's faculty union will move ahead with vote of no-confidence on President Wingard, other administrators

PHILADELPHIA - Temple University’s faculty-union said it will move forward with a vote of no-confidence in President Jason Wingard and two other school officials.

The Temple Association of University Professionals (TAUP Local 4531) concluded its authorization to vote on Monday afternoon, according to a press release.

The union said 84% of its over 900 members in the bargaining unit supported moving ahead with the vote of no confidence in senior leadership at Temple.

97% of those in support sought a no confidence vote in WIngard, while 86% sought a no confidence vote for Board of Trustees Chair Mitchell Morgan.

PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Police Department is asking for the public's help to identify four suspects wanted in connection with a triple shooting in West Philadelphia that left teens injured. According to authorities, the shooting occurred on the 1500 block of N Frazier Street on Monday around 4 p.m. Police say a 13-year-old and two 16-year-olds were injured in the brazen broad daylight shooting. Officials say that the 13-year-old, who was shot in the abdomen, was transported to LankenauMedical Center and placed in critical condition. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESOne 16-year-old was shot five times throughout his body and transported to the hospital in extremely critical condition, according to police. Authorities say the other 16-year-old was shot in the abdomen and taken to a local hospital, where he was placed in stable condition. On Thursday, police released surveillance video of the shooting, showing four masked suspects they say were armed with rifles and semi-automatic pistols.According to investigators, the suspects fired more than 60 shots before fleeing the area on Lansdowne Avenue. Anyone with information on this is urged to contact Philadelphia police or submit an anonymous tip online. Police say a 13-year-old and two 16-year-olds were all injured during a triple shooting in broad daylight on the streets of West Philadelphia.

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka's President Ranil Wickremesinghe told Parliament that the government will be introducing a serious of reforms after the IMF Executive Board granted approval for a bailout package of the country.Increasing Public Revenue:– Reduce the primary deficit to 2.3% of the GDP by 2025.– Increase the government’s revenue up to 15% of the GDP by 2026 through our measures.– Raised the standard corporate income tax rate to 30% without sectoral tax holidays.– PAYE tax rate was increased from 8% to 15%.– The measures required to reduce the existing tax exemptions on Value Added Tax (VAT) will come into effect by 2025. Further, necessary measures will be taken to remove the simplified VAT system and expedite its reimbursement.–  Steps have also been taken to introduce tax on awards / substitutes and to introduce Estate Duty as a property tax by 2025, while providing an appropriate tax exemption allowance at a minimum.–  Revamping the property tax system and introducing a wealth transfer tax – Introduce a gift and inheritance taxManaging Expenditure:– Increase the allocations provided to cover the expenses through proper management of expenditure.– Adjustments in certain salary scales and pension schemes as part of the impact of inflation within the primary deficit targets.State Enterprises and Energy Cost: – Fuel prices will be determined based on the 2018 Price Formula.
