Large parts of South Manchester, Stockport, Trafford, Oldham and Bury have recorded fewer than three new Covid cases in the last seven days - which the government classes as the criteria for it to have 'suppressed' the virus.
But as the latest coronavirus heat map shows, there are significant variations in infection rates from borough to borough, and often within towns themselves - with numerous areas showing an increase in cases.
