Bolton registered 447.2 cases per 100,000 people in the week ending May 22. It remains the highest rate in the country although there are tentative signs the rate of increase in the town is slowing.
Bolton is one of eight boroughs in Greater Manchester which registered increases in the infection rate. Only Stockport and Tameside registered falls.
In Greater Manchester as a whole, the infection rate is now 87.1 cases per 100,000 population. The infection rate in the region is higher than the national average,
