Supplies due to be distributed to vulnerable people in desperate need during the coronavirus outbreak have been stolen from a city centre depot.

Around £10,000 worth of essential items - including nappies, children’s sun cream and food - were stolen during the raid over the Bank Holiday weekend.

The supplies had been collected through generous donations to the Covaid-19 appeal - which aims to raise money for the most vulnerable people across Greater Manchester.

The Manchester Evening News has joined forces with the Greater Manchester Mayor's Charity and has raised more than £19,000 - enough to feed hundreds of struggling families during the virus outbreak.
