A Tory minister has come under fire after it emerged his local party took a £10,000 coronavirus bailout. Foreign Office Minister Nigel Adams’s local Conservative Association received a business rate relief grant for their high street office in Tadcaster.
In response to a Freedom of Information request by HuffPost, Selby District Council said: “I can confirm a small business rate relief grant of £10,000 was awarded to Selby and Ainsty Constituency Conservative Association for their offices at 17 High Street, Tadcaster.” Chancellor Rishi Sunak announced the support earlier this year, which is administered by local authorities.
