A train company has urged its customers to only travel with a reservation to help with social distancing. Avanti West Coast will be limiting the number of people on each train in a new system introduced to keep customers and staff safe.

Customers are also being asked to only use public transport if they have no alternative way to travel and only if necessary.

Passengers without a reservation might not be able to board they service they want if they number of passengers reaches around a quarter of the train’s normal capacity, the company said.

The measures are being brought in following updated travel advice from the government as we move into next phase of the COVID-19 lockdown.
