The scheme pays 80% of wages for affected employees Chancellor Rishi Sunak has announced that the furlough scheme for workers in the UK during the coronavirus pandemic will be extended to October.
The scheme, which pays 80% of wages for people who are unable to work during the pandemic, will run under its original terms until August.
From then until October, it will run with “greater flexibility.” Furloughed employees will also be able to return to work part-time at the end of July, with employers paying a chunk of their salaries.
The update comes as music venues across the UK continue to rely on the scheme to pay the wages of their out-of-work employees.
