Wayne Couzens, 48, is being sentenced at the Old Bailey after pleading guilty to Ms Everard’s murder, kidnap and rape by video link from jail in June.
The former Metropolitan Police officer used his handcuffs and warrant card to snatch Ms Everard as she walked home from visiting a friend in Clapham, south London, on the evening of March 3.
After clocking off from a 12-hour shift that morning, he went on to rape and strangle the 33-year-old marketing executive, before setting fire to her body. R
