(FOX 9) - Big Lake police are warning parents to monitor their children’s cell phone activity after they say an 18-year-old man took a Greyhound bus from Chicago to Big Lake, equipped with gifts and flowers to meet an 11-year-old girl.According to the Big Lake Police Department, over the weekend officers responded to a report of a suspicious man/unwanted party at a residence. Through an investigation, authorities learned the 18-year-old man showed up at the residence with flowers and gifts for the homeowner's 11-year-old daughter.

LOGAN - Philadelphia police are investigating a shooting that critically wounded a 30-year-old man.Officials say 35th District officers were called to the 1200 block of West Wingohocking Street, around 5:15 p.m., in Philadelphia's Logan section, on the report of a person shot.Witnesses described a black SUV idling on West Wingohocking about 20 minutes. One of the witnesses called police about the idling vehicle.At about that time, the vehicle moved forward at a slow rate of speed and within 200 feet or so, sideswiped a parked vehicle.

NEW YORK - Three women have been arrested and a Lower East Side restaurant is rebuilding after a shocking incident captured on social media over the July 4 holiday weekend.According to authorities, the women, identified as Pearl Ozaria, Chitara Plasencia and Tatiyanna Johnson, walked into Bel Fries on Ludlow Street at around 4 a.m.

LOS ANGELES - A Jamaican national who supplied a flight attendant with nearly 60 pounds of cocaine to smuggle onboard an LAX flight was sentenced Wednesday to 14 years in prison.In January 2017, Gaston Brown, 42, was charged with two counts of conspiracy to possess and distribute cocaine, one count of unlawful use of a means of identification, one count of use of a counterfeit access device, and one count of aggravated identity theft. He was found guilty on all counts a year later.  According to the Department of Justice, on six occasions between October 2015 and March 2016, Brown paid JetBlue flight attendant Marsha Gay Reynolds to transport cocaine and drug money across the country.

PHILADELPHIA - Prosecutors in Philadelphia have charged a man in a Fourth of July road rage shooting that happened just blocks away from Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell. The Philadelphia District Attorney's Office charged 29-year-old Damon Hudgins with several offenses, including aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and terroristic threats. According to investigators, Hudgins is accused of starting a traffic altercation with two brothers by beeping at their car and pulling in front of their vehicle on the 200 block of Market Street.Hudgins, according to police, exited his car and chucked a can of soda at the brother's vehicle.Police say both of the brothers then got out of their car to confront Hudgins, who fired one shot that hit one of the brothers in the leg.

Phil Murphy will provide $2 billion in property tax relief for homeowners and rebates for renters.Under the new ANCHOR or Affordable New Jersey Communities for Homeowners and Renters program, which replaces the Homestead Benefit program, more than 1.15 million homeowners will receive credit toward their property taxes. More than 900,000 renters, who were never a part of the Homestead program, will receive rebate checks.The benefits were phased in beginning July 1 instead of over three years so that checks could be mailed sooner.Get breaking news alerts in the free FOX5NY News app!  |  Sign up for FOX 5 email newslettersFor the more than 870,000 homeowners across the state with a household income of under $150,000, a $1,500 property tax benefit will be applied each year.For the more than 290,000 homeowners with a household income of between $150,000 and $250,000, a $1,000 property tax benefit will be applied each year.And the more than 900,000 renters with incomes of up to $150,000, will receive checks each year of $450 to help offset rent increases caused by increasing property taxes.Based on the budget, a middle-class family receiving $1,500 in ANCHOR relief will see their average property burden reduced to a level not seen since 2012.  After days of delays, lawmakers in Albany have reached a deal in principle on the New York State budget.

SPRINGFIELD, Pa. - The mother of a man arrested for a deadly road rage shooting in Springfield is now being charged in connection with the case. According to Delaware County District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer, Amanda Washington was charged with hindering prosecution in the case relating to the death of 54-year-old King Hua. On June 29, Hua and his wife were driving south on State Road in the curb lane when Amanda Washington passed them on the shoulder in her dark blue Chevrolet Equinox, authorities say. Washington's son, 22-year-old Saddiq Washington, was in the passenger seat of the car and fired the fatal shots that killed Hua, according to police. Springfield Township's Chief Daly said "The suspect's vehicle pulls on to the shoulder of the road, got ahead of the victim's vehicle, got out of the vehicle, fired two shots at the vehicle which permeated the window, killing the operator." After the shooting, Amanda Washington and her son fled southbound at a high rate of speed, according to investigators. Police say surveillance video showing Washington's car and license plate coupled with witness testimony helped lead investigators to the suspects. Once officers arrived at the Darby address listed on the car's registration, they saw the vehicle in the driveway and began surveilling the house while waiting for a warrant, per authorities. According to police, Washington and two other females were seen leaving the Darby home and getting into the Chevrolet Equinox around 5 a.m.

COVID-19 deaths and a 15-patient rise in hospitalizations today, one day after health officials formally declared the province was into a seventh wave of COVID-19.The Health Department says there are 1,549 people hospitalized with the disease after 186 patients were admitted and 171 were discharged.There are 41 people listed in intensive care, a decline of two patients. PHILADELPHIA - Investigators with the Philadelphia Police Department are searching for a group of teenagers caught on video attacking a driver before stealing his car in Olney. According to police, the incident happened on Tuesday on the 600 block of West Fisher Avenue in Philadelphia's Olney neighborhood. Authorities say the victim was sitting inside his 2007 Hyundai Elantra when he was approached by the group. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESThe group began to assault the man and he was able to get out of the car with minor injuries, according to investigators. Police say the group then drove off in the man's car towards 10th street. Video surveillance released by Philadelphia police appears to show several teens surrounding the victim's car and two of them appear to hit and kick the victim. Authorities have not specifically said the number of suspects they are looking for, but they did specify the group was comprised of teenagers. Police say no weapons were used during the robbery and anyone with information is urged to call police or submit an anonymous tip.

LANSDALE, Pa. - Three people were injured in a triple shooting in Lansdale, Pennsylvania on Thursday night, according to police. Authorities say the shooting happened around 10 p.m. on Hancock Street. According to police, two victims were transported to area hospitals and the third victim was transported by an ambulance to Abington Hospital. The conditions of the victims remain unknown at this time. SKYFOX flew over the scene on Thursday night when the scene was still active and several emergency vehicles were spotted. FOX 29's Shaynah Ferreira contacted Lansdale Police, but police have not yet released more information. This is a developing story.

OAKLAND, Calif. - The family and friends of the three immigrant men who drowned while rescuing a nephew from the delta in Sacramento are hoping to send their bodies back to their native Guatemala.Wendy Rivas of Oakland started a GoFundMe for her father Edwin "Guistillo" Rivas, 57, and his friends, Edwin Perez, 22, and Danilo Gutiérrez, 40. She is hoping to raise $15,000 for each man. In observance of Guatemalan culture, Rivas' family his hosting a nightly gathering at his Oakland home for nine days to honor him and his two friends."My dad is a hero and now I see how much the people love him," Rivas said of her father. She described him as a leader many immigrant communities of Oakland, his home of the last 36 years.

WILDWOOD, N.J. - Police say Good Samaritans rushed to try and rescue two people at a Wildwood beach earlier this week.One man, 45-year-old Williams Pathy, was reportedly found floating in the water about 100 yards from the shore near Youngs Avenue Wednesday evening. He was pulled from the water by two swimmers.Police responded to find several people rendering aid to Pathy, who was said to be unconscious and unresponsive.
