Wuhan market worker said to be coronavirus 'patient zero' on how she got disease

A shrimp vendor at the infamous Wuhan wet market where the coronavirus is believed to have originated has been identified as the so-called coronavirus “patient zero”.

The 57-year-old woman, identified as Wei Guixian by the Wall Street Journal, was the first person to test positive for the killer disease.

She had been at work in the market when she started to develop cold-like symptoms after 'picking them up from a toilet', according to The Paper - a Chinese outlet.

After feeling ill, she visited a local clinic before going back to work, likely spreading the virus in the process. Ms Guixian told the outlet: “Every winter, I always suffer from the flu.
