York Racecourse has officially cancelled its Dante meeting after horse racing leaders extended a suspension of the sport. With a ban on fixtures ongoing, officials pulled the plug on the popular three-day meeting.
Its prestigious Dante Stakes has trialled ten winners of the Epsom Derby over the years, with 2015 hero Golden Horn the most recent name on the roll of honour.
The BHA said earlier that race meetings will be cancelled past the end of April. York was due to host its event from May 13-15. "As the Covid-19 crisis has come to affect so many individuals and organisations, it will not be a surprise that racing, as both a sport and an important employer, has too suffered unprecedented consequences," a statement said on the racecourse's
