Manchester Magistrates' Court can be a hectic place. In one courtroom alone, up to 40 cases can be dealt with in a day. Solicitors, defendants, probation officers, ushers and members of public stream in and out of the 18 courtrooms in the Spinninfields building.

This is the first court in which cases must be heard. Whether they're dealt with here, or bumped up to city's Crown courts depends on the severity or type of crime.
