OTTAWA -- Ottawa Bylaw officers will be making sure Ottawa residents aren’t gathering in public parks and holding house parties during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The City of Ottawa received 50 complaints over the weekend about house parties, people hanging out in groups and gathering in public parks and other spaces.
Mayor Jim Watson told reporters Monday that Ottawa Bylaw and Regulator Services has new powers to enforce the measures under Ontario’s Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act. “It’s completely irresponsible when I get reports back that people are having house parties or porch parties and they’re pouring out onto the street” said Watson. “We need the tools that the province has given us so that we can let these people know
