New figures show that Greater Manchester Police has used wide-ranging new powers to enforce the coronavirus lockdown sparingly - just 38 fines have been dished out so far.
Despite repeatedly urging people to 'stay home and save lives', the force received 1,008 reports of people holding parties with visitors from other households, or other gatherings like barbecues, over the four days of the Easter weekend.
Officers also received reports that 54 pubs were flouting the lockdown rules by serving customers over the same weekend. Some parks and public spaces have seen people gathering to light barbecues, socialise and drink alcohol.
