A seven-mile long cycle lane is coming to Trafford - and it could be in place as next month. The new lane will run along the A56, first with a section running through Stretford and later between Altrincham and White City.
It is hoped the whole route will be fully operational by June 15 and will be reviewed on a regular basis. Leaders hinted that the changes could one day become permanent, as they added that they would 'carefully look' at whether the temporary measures fit into the borough’s ambitions for a 'cleaner, greener future' for the borough.
From next week, Trafford council said it will be reducing the width of the A56 through Stretford - from three to two lanes - to create more space for walking and cycling along the main road.
