All travellers arriving in the UK will have to quarantine for two weeks, the government is expected to announce. Anyone who is caught failing to do so could be fined up to £1,000 or be deported from the country, according to the Times.

The new rules, intended to help avoid a deadly second wave of coronavirus infections as lockdown restrictions are gradually eased, will apply to anyone arriving at Britain's air, rail and sea ports.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson is expected to announce the measure, which would reportedly come into effect in early June, when he sets out a "roadmap" for what life in the UK will look like over the coming weeks and months on Sunday.
