He was Foreign Secretary from 2016 to 2018 and Mayor of London from 2008 to 2016. Morgan began his career in Fleet Street as a writer and editor for several tabloid papers, including The Sun, News of the World, and the Daily Mirror. In 1994, aged 29, he was appointed editor of the News of the World by Rupert Murdoch, which made him the youngest editor of a British national newspaper in more than half a century.

Piers Morgan has slammed Miriam Margolyes for wanting Prime Minister Boris Johnson to die when his health worsened following his Covid-19 diagnosis.

The famously outspoken actress, 78, made the remarks on The Last Leg and didn't hold back her disdain for Boris – but her comments didn't go down well with the TV presenter.

Speaking on Tuesday's episode of Good Morning Britain, he said: "Shame on you Miriam Margolyes. Shame on you. If someone said on this show 'I wished he’d died', I’d have ripped him, but no one said anything. "It’s not funny what Boris went through personally on that ICU." And it wasn't just Piers who was left enraged by the star's comments as Ofcom received nearly 250 complaints from viewers.
