Soaps face drastic changes forever including no pubs due to new coronavirus guidelines

Soaps such as Coronation Street, Emmerdale and EastEnders could be changed long-term to fit new government guidelines. In new documents from Prime Minister Boris Johnson, it was advised that soaps may begin to start filming again from 1st June.

But this must take place behind closed doors and no "large-scale social contact", meaning no busy pub scenes or romantic scenes for a long time.

The official guidance on broadcasting in lockdown will not be finalised until Friday 12th May. All of the soaps have halted filming at present and are running on a reduced schedule so they do not run out of episodes.
