Sicily is offering to pay for half of your airfare, a third of your accommodation and waive fees to museums and historic sites if you book a holiday to the region.

Announcing the offer on the country’s tourism website, Sicily is hoping travellers will return to the island’s popular towns of Taormina, Palermo and Catania.

And they want you to stay a while, offering to pay for every third night you stay on the island. In a bid to revive it’s ravaged tourist industry, the government has launched a huge $54 million budget to help rebuild the small island’s reputation and entice visitors back to the area.
