BBC are planning a Match of the Day returning some classic matches from the Premier League. Fans of the flagship highlights show were left furious when it was announced the show, hosted by Gary Lineker, would be replaced by Mrs Brown’s Boys during the coronavirus lockdown.

With Premier League action suspended until April 30, the broadcasters opted to show a podcast of the England hero in his kitchen with Ian Wright and Alan Shearer.

And the Daily Mail reports that a new show is being worked on with footage of classic matches. The BBC are preparing to confirm the format in the next 48 hours, with some of their star pundits set to be involved.
