Lockdown changes due to take effect tomorrow have been scrapped with hours to spare, Boris Johnson has confirmed. Plans to reopen bowling alleys, casinos and ice rinks in England from tomorrow have been postponed for at least two weeks.
Pilot schemes to restart socially distanced events such as indoor performances and large crowds at sporting events have also been put on hold.
And plans to allow wedding receptions of up to 30 people have also been postponed. Announcing the changes at a Downing Street press conference, the Prime Minister said it was right to "squeeze the brakes" on easing lockdown measures.
Opposition party leaders were told of the change in a phone call this morning ahead of Prime Minister Boris Johnson's press conference
