Army veteran Captain Tom Moore has raised more than £30million for the NHS in the fight against coronavirus. The World War 2 veteran wanted to raise £1,000 for NHS Charities Together by his 100th birthday – which is today, on April 30.
It took him just 24 hours to reach his initial target, which was soon raised to £1million. He reached the incredible one million mark on April 14, after just eight days.
Two days later he completed the 100 laps of his 25 metre garden in 10 lap bits each time. But he kept going, and the money has continued to pour in to his JustGiving page.
You can still donate to Captain Tom Moore’s JustGiving page here. The page is titled: “Captain Tom Moore’s 100th Birthday Walk for the NHS”.
