Celebrating World Penguin Day – And The Staff At SANCCOB

On World Penguin Day we take a look at those adorable flightless birds which live mostly in the Southern Hemisphere. Despite the fact that nearly all penguin species are native to Earth’s southern hemisphere, there are, remarkably, penguins in the northern hemisphere as well.

Covid-19 is keeping us all inside, but the dedicated staff at The Southern African Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds (SANCCOB) have been quietly continuing their rescue of injured and sick seabirds, as well as caring for newly hatched penguin chicks.

They carry out essential services so the welfare of South Africa’s seabird patients is looked after during the global fight against the coronavirus.
