China wet market selling live frogs and turtles laid bare despite coronavirus fears

Chilling images show the continued sale of live animals including live frogs at a wet market in China. Although the source of the coronavirus is yet to be confirmed, it has been widely suggested it may have started at the Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market in Wuhan.

Covid-19 first emerged there, and the market has not re-opened. But wet markets were able to resume in April, with the Chinese government banning the breeding, trading and selling of wild animals in February.

However, it is yet to publish a full list of what is considered "wild". And the law has yet to become permanent. But these latest images will undoubtedly raise concerns as the planet continues to tackle the devastating pandemic.
