The UK will suffer "quite a lot more" Covid deaths in the next few weeks as it takes time for a vaccine to protect all the most vulnerable, Chris Whitty warned tonight.
England's Chief Medical Officer said the number of deaths “looks as if [they have] flattened out but at a very high level.” Adding people had to be “realistic”, the Chief Medical Officer said it was still an “incredibly high number” and will only “come down relatively slowly over the next two weeks”.
He said: “We will still unfortunately be having additional deaths to add to that very sad total.” He went on: “Unfortunately we’re going to see quite a lot more deaths over the next few weeks before the effects of the vaccines begin to be felt.” It came as the UK officially
