CORRIE bosses have reassured fans that the dog actors who played Roy’s pet pooch Eccles, are still very much alive after the character was put down in the soap.
The emotional scenes caused 'RIP Eccles' and 'Poor Eccles' to trend on Twitter as fans’ hearts broke across the country. Such was the reaction, Corrie’s official Twitter account gave a public service announcement to let fans know the four-legged actors – called Eccles and Freckles – who played Eccles were still very much alive and barking.
The account wrote: “PSA: the two dogs who play Eccles (yes, there's two!) are both perfectly alive and kicking!” Viewers of the show flocked to social media to express their relief.
