Dangerous exotic animals are feared to be on the loose after being dumped by cash-strapped families to cut costs. Pythons and venomous spiders are among the beasts being left in parks, on street corners and in the countryside amid the coronavirus lockdown.
Owners are thought to be ditching them to slither and crawl around as they can no longer afford to look after them. RSPCA deputy chief inspector Phil Lewis said “We completely understand that we are currently entering some uncertain and difficult times, however, there is no excuse to abandon an animal. “Please call us for help and advice.” Two dead pythons were found dumped in plastic boxes in Bridlington, East Yorkshire, sparking fears the owner could have others.
