A total of 67 Ayrshire and Arran residents have died as a result of contracting coronavirus. The figures released today by the National Records of Scotland (NRS) takes into account COVID-19 deaths up to Sunday, April 12The news means that 40 patients in the region have died in a week.The new figures also means Ayrshire still has the fourth-highest death toll in the country.Greater Glasgow and Clyde tops the figures with 315 deaths, while Lothian is second (148) and Lanarkshire third (138).Most deaths occur in hospitals (62 per cent).
