Huge changes to millions of people's freedoms swept in last night with less than three hours' notice due to a surge in coronavirus cases.
People in the whole of Greater Manchester may no longer meet anyone from outside their household indoors - including homes, pubs and gardens.
The affected area also includes parts of West Yorkshire and Lancashire. However, people are allowed to continue to meet outdoors as long as they stay socially distanced.
They can still go to work, travel, and go to the pub - though only with their own household. With the laws now differing across England and the short notice, many people in Greater Manchester, Lancashire and West Yorkshire are confused about what they can and can't do.
