City supermarkets have introduced measures to safeguard items for the vulnerable during the coronavirus pandemic.Panic buying has led to empty shelves in a number of shops and stores.Now supermarket chains have made changes to operating hours to allow shoppers deemed to be at high risk of contracting the virus to get essential supplies.Sainsbury’s in Drip Road allotted the first hour of opening time last Thursday to elderly and vulnerable shoppers.One shopper who turned up first thing told us there were around 50 queueing to get in.Shopper Mike Harvey presented at the store shortly before 7am on Thursday and says there were people lining up outside.He said: “When I got there, there was a queue of around 50 people already at the door.
