Coronavirus risk factors that make it more likely you’ll be hospitalised

Certain risk factors can lead to an increased chance of hospitalisation for coronavirus patients, according to researchers.

Age, obesity and chronic illnesses have been revealed as leading risk factors by one of the largest data reviews conducted by New York University.

The study also reveals cardiovascular disease, diabetes and obesity in particular are likely to lead to hospitalisation for Covid-19 patients, reports the New York Post. "The risk factors we identified for hospitalisation in [COVID-19] are largely similar to those associated with any type of severe disease requiring hospitalisation or ICU-level care, though we were surprised that cancer and chronic pulmonary disease did not feature more prominently in the risk models,"
