Aer Lingus and British Airways owner IAG has posted a loss of €4.37 billion for 2020 after a year of minimal flying in the pandemic when it has burnt through cash.
IAG warned it could not give guidance due to the ongoing travel slump. Its 2020 operating loss before exceptional items was slightly better than a consensus forecast for a €4.45 billion loss, after it sunk to a €1.165 billion loss in the October-December quarter.
Yesterday Aer Lingus announced that Lynne Embleton has been appointed as its new chief executive and will start her new role in April.
Ms Embleton replaces Donal Moriarty who has been interim chief executive since October 2020 and who will resume his role as the airline's chief corporate affairs officer.
