Police sent a group of brazen covidiots packing when they pitched up in the Yorkshire Dales for a boozy Friday night. Eight illegal campers were all fined after five tents and a lit campfire was spotted beside the ruins of a historic factory, near Richmond.
The group, comprised of men and four women in their 20s from West Yorkshire, were said to be drinking alcohol at the makeshift campsite next to the Old Gang Smelting Mill ruins.
North Yorkshire Police allowed them to stay overnight before sending them on their way, YorkshireLive report. A campervan was also found nearby and its occupants, who were said to have travelled from Teesside, were also sent home.
