POTTSTOWN, Pa. - Neighbors are waking up to the aftermath of a deadly house explosion in Pottstown. According to authorities, emergency personnel responded to the 400 block of North Washington Street for reports of an explosion on Thursday night around 8 p.m. Pottstown Borough Manager Justin Keller announced four fatalities and said two people may be missing. Pottstown resident Steven Diamond spoke to FOX 29's Steve Keeley on Friday morning as he was outside observing the damage. He says he was in bed when he heard an "extreme intense noise" that he says shook the neighborhood. Diamond says he ran outside and saw a scene that "looked like an apocalypse." The American Red Cross of Southern Pennsylvania says it provided about seven families with emergency assistance, including, shelter, food and emotional support. The local high school reopened at 8 a.m.

PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia police are investigating a crash that left a nine-year-old dead and a mother and another child injured. According to authorities, the crash happened in the area of Germantown and Erie Avenues just before 11:30 p.m. Chief Inspector Scott Small says officers with the 25th District and paramedics responded to the scene and found a 2017 Honda Sedan that crashed into the back of a parked unattended minibus. The Honda, with three females inside, sustained heavy damage to the front of the vehicle, Small says. Police are investigating a crash in North Philadelphia at Germantown and Erie Avenues.  Authorities say the driver, a 33-year-old woman, was transported to Temple Hospital with injuries to the face and a possible broken leg. The driver's two daughters, a seven-year-old and nine-year-old, were also in the car, according to police. Police say the two girls were transported to Saint Christopher's. The seven-year-old child is in stable condition with bumps and bruises, but the nine-year-old was pronounced dead at 11:50 p.m., Small says. Police are investigating the cause of the crash, but believe the Honda was traveling eastbound on the 1300 block of Erie Avenue. Authorities said accident investigators are processing the scene and parts of the Honda were found 100 feet west that are believed to have ended up there before the car crashed. Small says there is no evidence the driver was impaired at this time, but they believe the Honda may have been traveling at a high rate of speed. AdvertisementThis is a developing story.

UVALDE, Texas - An 18-year-old gunman who killed 19 children and two teachers at a Texas elementary school allegedly messaged a woman with his plans on social media prior to carrying out the deadly attack. Officials identified Salvador Ramos as the shooter who opened fire in Robb Elementary in Uvalde, Texas, on Tuesday. The Texas Department of Public Safety said Ramos first shot his grandmother, who remains hospitalized in serious condition.

SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. - A Pennsylvania resident caught a record carp while fishing from the bank of Summersville Lake in West Virginia, regulators said.Ayden Minick of Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania, caught and released the carp on May 7, the Division of Natural Resources said in a news release. It measured by a DNR fisheries biologist at 41.2 inches (104.6 centimeters) long, breaking the record of 41 inches (104.1 centimeters) caught in 1988 by Charles Cook at Stonecoal Lake.The carp weighed 45 pounds (20.4 kilograms), which was just shy of the record of 47 pounds set in 1998 in a Preston County farm pond.Advertisement

PHILADELPHIA - A SEPTA employee has been placed on leave and is in police custody after authorities say he was identified as a suspect in an attempted rape incident from 2019. Aaron Kuhn, a temporary SEPTA IT worker, was taken into custody by Philadelphia police at SEPTA Headquarters on Monday. Philadelphia police say Kuhn, 22, is charged with attempt to commit rape, aggravated indecent assault, unlawful restraint, and related offenses.Authorities say the alleged incident occurred back in Apr. 2019 on the 2400 block of York Street. Kuhn was placed on unpaid administrative leave and has been prohibited from entering SEPTA Headquarters, according to officials.

ORANGE COUNTY, Calif. - A multiple-county police chase that started all the way from the San Diego area ended in a dramatic arrest in Orange County.SkyFOX was over the chase scene on the 5 Freeway in Orange County Monday night when the suspect, driving a white sedan, led the California Highway Patrol on a pursuit. The suspect was initially wanted for stealing the car in the Chula Vista area.The chase spanned from Chula Vista in San Diego County and went through parts of Santa Ana and Anaheim before the suspect eventually stopped the car near the Beach Boulevard Exit in Orange County.The suspect initially refused to get out of the car for more than five minutes after stopping the vehicle.

PHILADELPHIA -  Philadelphia police are investigating a shooting that injured three teens at Penn’s Landing.According to officials, police were called to the area near Chestnut Street and Columbus Boulevard, at the riverfront, Saturday, just after 9:30 p.m. on reports of multiple gunshots.When officers arrived, they found three teens suffering from gunshot wounds.A 14-year-old male was shot in the rib cage, officials said.
