Dominic Cummings uncle died the same day he was first spotted in Durham, his mother has revealed. Key aide to the Prime Minister Mr Cummings has come under fire for travelling over 250 miles from London to the north east to stay on his parent's estate whilst he and his wife were ill.
Boris Johnson last night said he did so to get the "right kind of childcare" and "followed the instincts of every father" as he stood by him.
However it has now emerged Mr Cummings' uncle had been hospitalised and died during his stay in the north east. Mr Cummings' mother Morag said last night her brother Lord Justice John Laws, who she says was close to his nephew, passed away on Palm Sunday, April 5.
