Whether schools will reopen or not has been one of the most talked about issues during the coronavirus pandemic. Since the Prime Minister first announced his intention for a phased return for certain year groups earlier in May, parents, teachers, unions and education and business leaders have been airing their views on the plans.
Boris Johnson said all along that it would only happen if the government met its five safety tests to easing lockdown - including having 'a sustained and consistent fall' in the number of coronavirus cases to indicate the country is 'beyond the peak'.
