Donald Trump has declared a "new age of American ambition" after the launch of a historic space mission. The US President has called last night's SpaceX rocket launch - which saw American astronauts sent into space for the first time in nearly 10 years - a "great inspiration".
His celebratory comments come after five days of tense protests across the US over the death of George Floyd, which has sparked violence in several cities.
Meanwhile on Thursday, the country's coronavirus death toll also reached the grim milestone of 100,000, according to data from John Hopkins University.
