NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA - A man who allegedly fired dozens of shots at police during a two-hour standoff at a Northeast Philadelphia apartment was found critically wounded inside the residence early Monday, but it wasn’t clear if he was shot during the standoff or before it began.

Officers responded to the 4400 block of Kendrick Street shortly before 11 p.m. Sunday after receiving reports of shots fired and a wounded man there, authorities said.

When a man inside the apartment did not respond to officers requests, a SWAT team was called in. The man eventually fired about 40 to 50 shots at police during the standoff, striking a patrol car multiple times but not hitting any people.
