Her family fled Kosovo as war broke out, and singer Dua Lipa admits returning there was a “massive learning experience”. Dua was born in the UK after her parents fled the conflict in the 1990s, returning to Pristina in 2006 when she was 11.
Dua says: “I didn't realise how difficult it would be. I learned even more history about the war and how it affected people. "Living in London, I hadn't lived through it.
I knew what was going on, but my parents were the ones that fled the war. "I didn't quite understand it until I went to Kosovo and really understood how many of my friends had struggled." She added: "It made me really in touch with my roots.” At 15, Dua returned to the UK to pursue her music career.
