A Dumfries boxing club owner has been knocked out by the support of the local community.Mark Dawson’s Nith Valley Boxing Club, based in Queensberry Street, was threatened by closure due to the coronavirus.But when parents and members caught wind of the bad news they set out to back the 10-year-old club with a variety of fundraisers.Now the gym has raised enough to cover rent for the rest of the year and possibly buy new equipment.Mark said: “We’re a not-for-profit club.

The money made at the club goes to buying kit and paying rent.“We paid the rent for the last month and then I was in hospital for 10 days due to my ulcerative colitis.
