New Premier League restart date anticipated as several clubs plan for June fixtures

Premier League clubs are anticipating the season will restart on the weekend of June 13 - the week after what was previously the target.

The season remains suspended for the time being due to the coronavirus crisis. But the Government are backing plans to get top-flight football back up and running as soon as possible.

That is despite Ligue 1 in France and the Eredivisie in the Netherlands having seen their seasons cancelled amid the COVID-19 crisis.

In the UK, however, players at London teams such as Arsenal, Tottenham and West Ham have begun working back at their respective training grounds.
