The Chinese government has sparked fears of a second global pandemic after claiming they have a new super-infectious bug under control – just like they did with coronavirus.
A pig farm in Yunyang Country, Chonquing, was riddled a deadly strain of African Swine Fever – sparking a frantic search for the virus’s epicentre.
Investigators found 298 contaminated pigs, all of which were transported illegally from elsewhere. The discovery has sparked a desperate hunt for the original farm where the pigs were bred.
If left unchecked, the virus could potentially spread to millions of swine. But officials insist they have the outbreak “handled”.
